Great first sequel to a great series. In this book, Gray & her rebels continue their search for the hunter who has been killing witches, including her best friend, & who has kidnapped numerous others. Gray struggles to reconnect with her magic & control her Shadowborn abilities. She’s also determined to become strong physically. All the while, she is haunted by her shared past with the hunter & the tragedy that befell her loved ones because of it.This story was amazing. Gray continues to grow closer to her rebels, even Asher, who she frequently butts heads with. She spends a considerable amount of time with Darius &, of course, Ronan. While this book doesn’t have a ton of action, it does a great job of further developing the plot & the characters, especially Asher. It also has plenty of hot, steamy goodness. There’s even a yummy threesome that’s definitely a highlight.Of course, the sex isn’t what makes these books so great. The plot is compelling. It’s complex, but not so complex as to be be confusing. I continue to highly recommend this series to fans of the genre.
This is the 2nd book in the series and I am ADDICTED!! The storyline and world the author has created is unique, creative, and refreshing. The drama in this book was scaled back a little bit and allowed us to really get a closer look at Gray and all the men in her life. The relationships with some of the men have progressed a little more.We learned more about her past. What happened to her mother, the reason she’s on the run, and her connection with the Hunter who has made her life a living hell. We gain a little more insight about Gray and her magic although a lot still seems ambiguous at the moment.I love Liam/Death’s character. Trying to navigate human emotions and customs for the sake of Gray. It’s amazing to read, especially in the chapters from his POV. I can tell that he has ulterior motives for associating with Gray at the moment but I hope those human emotions begin to really take hold of him and he does the right thing.I love reading about the typical asshole/jerk so I like Asher so far. Especially when we are able to read a chapter from their POV and we are able to dig really deep into their mind and see what they are really thinking.I’m hoping that we are able to watch Gray’s relationship develop more with Emilio because he seems so sweet and shy.Great addition to this amazing series and I cannot wait to read the next one!
I don't know how to formulate words very well right now. Gray stole my breath, and her story stole my heart. I am continually surprised and so moved by this magical telling. I was so looking forward to this sequel, and I didn't want it to end, so I lingered in the story as long as I could. I knew I would be shattered completely by the end, and I am! Sarah, I am in love with your world! And Asher? My dear, sweet, smarmy, pain ridden Asher?! Ugh, I love his smart mouth! The mystery started in the first story gave rise to a deeper, more twisted plot in this one. I got answers, but not always the ones I wanted, and it finished with such a climactic ending! Wow! In this story, a broken girl slowly becomes a confident woman, open to love and open to her inner strength and magic! I loved seeing Gray's progression throughout the story and the foundations of a beautiful family in the men. All the pain in the past and in the present only enriches these characters and deepens their commitment to each other, and a resolution to their plight. Oh, but I feel like I know even less than I did at the start of their journey. There is still so much hanging in the balance, so many unknowns, and more sinister plots to come! Such a beautiful, taunting ending, but it only makes me crave the next stop on this journey even more. Gray trusts in the cards and what they say about her past, present, and future, so I too will trust in the path and believe that this isn't the end. These characters deserve their happiness and a chance to live their fullest lives. I believe it will happen, but the journey is long and there is still so much to discover. I cannot wait for the next book so I may dive back into Gray's realm! Such an amazing job! So worth the heartache! It would be a grave mistake to miss this series, read it!!!
I read A LOT, so it had been a while (or many books at least) since I read book 1, but I caught back up really quickly and got sucked right back into this story. I wanted to beat the crap out of that stubborn incubus for most of the book, but we are getting there. Emilio was so stinkin sweet in this book and I can't wait to see more of him. We also saw even more softening of that ancient vampire and I loved every second of it. We certainly can't leave out that lovably sexy cross roads demon... Sigh. I will say that I wasn't a fan of that ending, but only because now the waiting begins again. Great sequel, but I need book 3 pronto. Lol
Sarah Piper creates characters that you fall in love with. You cry, you laugh, and you stop breathing in the most serious of moments with them. I was new to the reverse harem books when I stumbled upon her books and I have to say, the way they each come together at their own pace is one thing I love. It’s not the super cheesy everyone falls in love moments after meeting, it’s through trials and tribulations that they form a bond worth having. The way she writes the flowing connections between gray and her rebels or the other people she meets... it’s that that sets Sarah pipers books apart. I can’t wait until the next one (it’s already on my calendar with alarm ready to go). =)
Every time you think you know what is happening, there's another twist. I can't write a long review, I'm desperate for the next book!
This is a truly awesome series! There a few slow parts and a few typos but off you stick with it it's really great.
The story continues and is exciting. A must read for supernatural lovers. I can't put down...
