The Hustle of Kim’s Foxx offers us a political insurgen’s plucky promise of progressive change, often thwarted by politics and institutional racism, and an intractable system that rarely focuses on correcting decades old errors even in the face of blatant injustice. A very accessible and lucid account by a veteran interpreter (Courtroom 302 is a must read) of the human drama on daily display in the Cook County criminal courts.
This book reads like a puff piece for Foxx who most recently showed herself to be a star crossed lackey willing to go all in on the Jusse Smollett fiction, at the behest of someone in the Obama administration. The publication of this fluff is the real hustle, along with all the duplicitous shenanigans from the Northwestern University crowd led by chief huckster David Profess and fake detective Ciolini
Wonderful read and very insightful into Kim Foxx's road to the States Attorneys office. Being from Chicago, it was great to see someone trying to change a broken system.
It was a great read, and I suggest that people rad as well. Kim Foxx is doing what she needs to do for the people in Chicago.
The new state attorney made a lot of promises and now has to job to do. Can she make the criminal justice system more “fair†after decades of “win at all costs†mentality by prosecutors? She’s off to a good start, but she’s got a long road to walk.
This was a very enlightening story. The people of Cook County are lucky to have this woman in office. I hope they give her that next 4 year chunk. Thank you for telling this story and thank you for the series.
On the one hand, the actual essay is perfectly fine, and I don't want to punish the author. However, Foxx is proving herself to be hypocritical and unprincipled. It is difficult to read this essay now knowing how different Foxx is from the way she is portrayed here.
This was an informative read. I almost did not select it due to the title.... happy I moved beyond the title.
