These are poorly made...the pages are way too small for the items. I've used other Dot-to-Dot by Thomas Pavitte and LOVED them. The way these dots are done with using the same dot having up to 4 different numbers makes it super confusing.
8.5" X11" book. But This is not 1-1000 dots. There are NOT 1000 dots per page as indicated on front of the book. Some have more than 1000 numbers, some have less but not 1000 dots because a dot is reused twice to three times! The different color numbers on each page represent a group (example: green dots are 1-560 and red dots are 1-342).I don't like that there are not continuous numbers per page and that half the dots have two to three numbers on it making it impossible to see once you draw a line through. I have to keep erasing lines just to find numbers. There are tons of puzzles front and back of each page. Paper is thin (like regular printing paper). And numbers are very small (I have good nearsightedness so this is not a problem for me but can see how this would be a problem for some).I'm sticking to the 1 to 1000 dot books that are 9"x 11", thick paper, and one number per dot!
Love Star Wars and could not wait for this dot to dot book. Numbers are so small you do need a magnifying glass and if you have a color perception problem... this could be an added challenge. Many of the puzzles are in two very faint colors. I'm depending on the force being with me to be able to do this.
I like the actual designs, but the numbers are extremely hard to make out. While I appreciate that the color-coding makes the design easier to do, the orange/yellow color was so light that it was very hard to read. I have 20/20 vision and was in a well-lit room, but still ended up with a headache after doing one page. Besides that, the pages are too thin. I used a gel pen and while it didn't bleed through, it's very visible on the other side. And there is a design on the back of each page, instead of being one design per page, so now the other side of the page is basically ruined. With half the pages unusable, and the hard to see dots, this book is kind of a waste. It's a great idea, but needs upgrades.
My 12 year old son loves this book. He uses a ruler and we got him a small magnifying glass that also lights up. He has great eyesight but sometimes the numbers are hard to find. The pictures look great when he’s done and he’s proud of his work.
I am an adult who enjoys completing the more challenging dot to dot collections out there. This one was a disappointment. The numbers are EXTREMELY small. You are afraid to blink so you don't lose your spot. Several times numbers will be stacked by a single dot. You are supposed to reuse the dot, but quite often your pen draws through numbers and it is hard to see when you come back to it. We have found more than one puzzle with numbers missing a dot and even puzzles skipping numbers entirely! I was excited about the Star Wars theme, but this one is not much fun.
It's actually really good, a lot of people are complaining that it's too hard. You know what you're getting into. The only reason I give it 3 stars instead of five is that there are several that have separate dot-to-dots on one page, separated by different colors. Which would be fine if they didn't use red and green on the same page. The child I bought this for is color blind, he won't be able to do some of them. Otherwise he really likes it though.
I rarely write reviews, but felt the need to do so on this one. We have loved the Thomas Pavitte dot-to-dots. My boys 7 and 11 have done them all. As they are star wars fans, I loved the idea for this one too -- but the execution on the star wars book is poor. My 7 year old, who excels at the Pavitte, experienced a quick deflation of interest after the first two. The pages are too small for images, resulting in minuscule dots that require a magnifying glass/orb. My 11 year old, who stuck with the book for several images, found pages that included duplicate dots (for example, in one case, #57 and #58 dots appear twice in different places on the same page -- didn't anyone proof these?). Print and colors are also very faint, left him with a headache by the end. A friend his age who came for a holiday also found them frustrating and poorly done, didn't even really try beyond one page. It's getting tossed and we do not recommend.
