Brian is a moderator in the trading community to which I belong and because I like his low-key, straightforward approach to day trading, I was eager to gain insight into his swing trading approach. The book did not disappoint as Brian explains his process and reasoning as clearly as if he is talking to you in person. I appreciated the format of the book because I could easily pass over a couple sections (like setting up a brokerage account) that were not relevant to me without fear of missing information that I was interested in reading. The format also lends itself to bookmarking specific content such as filter criteria that I will use as I build out my tools. Best of all, the swing trading content Brian provides is actionable. For example, he provides a list of scanning resources available for free and offers settings to help you get started filtering for potential swing trading opportunities. He describes specific technical set ups to look for and provides a trade journal format to track your watchlist and open trades. Brian provides specific examples around entry and exit points, using stops, and risk to reward calculations. His advice on risk management is always worth hearing again because if you lose your capital, your trading business is out of business. His methodical approach says to me that successful traders are disciplined, have a process, follow their process, and consistently invest the necessary time and effort into their business.
The first part of the book teaches the knowledge needed to more successfully swing trade. It took me a couple years to codify the knowledge, where the author does this in the first chapters. I found it to be such a useful primer I send a copy to my son who is beginning his experience in stock trading.The remainder of the book discusses tools and strategies to swing trade that I am now applying since I need to transition from day trading due to the time required.I really like the way it is written...just like a good sermon. Each chapter tell the reader what they are going to learn, teaches them, then summarizes the key points.

I learned a lot from it and so would you at regardless of your trading experience.
This book covers basic essential information in getting started into swing trading. It is easy to read and does an excellent job of explaining concepts. The book covers basic trading fundamentals including tools, platforms, fundamental and technical analysis; and provides the minimal examples for each topic. More importantly, the author explains risk management and trading strategies. This book is a great foundation for beginners and will definitely be an easy reference guide for those just getting started.You can look up a lot of the topics online but the author's structure of the book puts everything in a clear and concise manner. I have done my own research and homework before reading this book, and this book definitely complemented a lot of what I already knew. The most I got from this book were the chapters "Guiding Principles," "Trading Rules," "Trading Strategies," and "Entry and Exit."It would be nice to see more books from Brian Pezim in the future covering intermediate and advanced level swing trading.
I was introduced to the idea of trading stocks not too long ago. I was always aware of the concept of trading, but only at an idealistic level.Brian's approach is laid out very clear and organized. There is a ton of information to be learned, and Brian covers a ton of information; however, he does so in a way that is very methodical and friendly to follow along and digest. I went in to this book not knowing a single thing about the world of trading, and I came out feeling like this is something that is completely within my grasp.I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to trade, and not just how to swing trade. I already have some experience trading but wanted to learn more about swing trading. This book gave some very good information on how to do this type of trading and strategies you can use to find and make good trades. It would be good for someone just starting out trading stocks because it covers all the basics. It is also is good for people with more experience in the market but wanting to learn more.
Brian does an excellent job of referencing recent events such as the marijuana "boom" in the summer of 2018 and legalization in Canada. I found this to be exciting because some of the trades discussed I was able to relate too such as trading CGC. He explains the psychology behind making a good swing trade, as well as discussing how to manage risk effectively. I really enjoyed how he discussed his analysis techniques on finding a good entry position and what to look for in a potential set up. I still have to review some sections to study and really be able to effectively realize these candle stick patterns he discusses. I'm excited to also use some of the scanning websites that he mentioned such as Chartmill and finviz.
